Who is behind BattGrade
BattGrade is a brand administered and managed by Topfed, a company registered in the Republic of Moldova.
What BattGrade does
BattGrade is an app and a web service for testing the high voltage battery of used electric cars. An inspector, a dealer or a fleet team plugs a supported OBD2 adapter into the car, and the app reads the battery management system with read-only requests.
Our server recomputes the result from the raw data and issues a signed PDF certificate: the State of Health (SoH), the method behind it and its uncertainty band, a grade from A to F and any warning signs. Anyone can check a certificate at battgrade.com/verify.
Independent, for us, means this: the score is calculated and signed by our server from the data read from the car, nobody can type it in or change it, and the certificate shows who ran the test. BattGrade is not a public authority and not an accredited test laboratory.

Principles that keep the number honest.
Data, not adjectives
Each certificate shows the SoH with its method and uncertainty band, plus the checks behind it, such as the cell voltage spread.
Independent, and what that means
The score is calculated and signed by our server from the car's own data. Nobody can type it in or change it, and the certificate shows who ran the test.
Objective scoring
The grade comes from the score, on the same bands for every make. No grade is ever set by hand.
Transparent & verifiable
Every certificate is signed, hashed and tied to a published, versioned methodology.
No special hardware
No proprietary box to buy. We work with supported off-the-shelf OBD2 adapters, listed on the coverage page.
